A while back I had the opportunity to photograph Aaron and Amie. We’ve been friends for years and I was just so honoured to be asked to photograph a family maternity shoot. Team AA wanted to have the Harbour Bridge and Opera House to be seen in the background, so it made sense to do our shoot together at Bradleys Head Amphitheatre. It’s known for the balance between greenery and sand and the vivid colours projected by the sunset. There truly isn’t a place like it, so I can understand why Aaron and Amie desired such a dreamy place.
When we first arrived, Aaron forgot some clothing and had to go back home quickly to pick up the items. Now, this is where I have a lot of respect for Aaron. He drove from there to Matraville and back and had a smile on his face when he returned. If this was me, I would’ve looked similar to the commuters we would often find at Central Station during peak hour. Good on you Aaron! So in the meantime, Amie and I made the most out of our time together by capturing some maternity shots.
After these moments, Aaron was ready and it was time to create some memories together. I’ve photographed Aaron and Amie in the past, and what I’ve noticed about my two friends is that when they express their love for each other, there is a genuine glow. I noticed that in our first session and my goal was to see that glow take place again. C.S. Lewis once said that certain people in our lives can bring out something inside of us that no one else can. Think about that friend who can just look at you and you can’t help but to burst in laughter. Or that other friend who would ask how you are doing and all of a sudden you become an open book. For Aaron and Amie, I can affirm these two are constant lights who brighten each other up . Watch how Aaron brightens Amie up by sharing why she is going to be an amazing mum.
As the sun was setting, we wanted to make the most out of these vivid colours. There’s a time and place to ask couples or individuals to pose a certain way, however in this case, Aaron and Amie were just naturals and I felt that as a photographer, sometimes it’s best to allow things to unfold organically before our eyes and capture those unforgettable moments.
Thank you Aaron and Amie for allowing me to be a part of your story. Love you guys and so looking forward to getting to know baby Arthur more and more.
