Lighthearted Venice Beach

The vibrancy of Venice Beach is contagious. From the rollerbladers grooving to Beyonce, the ballers dribbling to the sound of legendary west coast rappers, and the sound of skateboarders grinding in their domain, you cannot help but to be soaked into a jive that Venice Beach can only give.

Taken with the Fujifilm X100F

With my Fujifilm X100F around my neck and my two film cameras inside my Ona Bowery bag, I was ready to attempt to convey what I’ve experienced. First let me share some general observations about the location:

  • Venice Beach is probably one of the fewest places you’ll ever visit where you experience a great sense of busyness and calmness at the same time.

  • It is a very active community. Walking along the shops, you will be approached by rappers wanting you to have their ep, street performers try to reel you in to observe them, shop/cart owners vigorously steer you to try out their food and to buy their items. Walking away from the shops you will find tennis players, basketball players, skate boarders, cyclists, runners, people doing flips on the sand, surfers, jugglers, dancers, dog walkers, body builders and so much more.

  • When you’re on the beach, you forget about the active community behind you. The serenity of Venice makes you want to lay on the sand and just let all your problems drift away to the sound of the ocean.

These are just some of my observations and thoughts from this short trip with family. Here is a collection of images
